Thanks to Raine for answering some questions about his label from Finland Kissankusi and for sending the pics of the original Kusisessions studios and the Kissankusi office manager.
Why start a label?
I needed to put out In-Walked Blank 7”. I sort of knew the band will split up at some point, so I wanted to get something released.
When and how did it start?

I think it happened in the year 2000. See the above. Kissankusi means actually “cat´s piss”. It´s probably unnecessary to say that some hairy animal affected the choice of the name.
What labels inspire you?

At the beginning it was Trash Can Records, Bad Vugum, etc. Mainly Finnish labels. Nowadays there´s like ziljon labels and I don´t know who can keep up with them, I can´t. Maybe some stuff I bought are from ugExplode, Ektro, Troubleman Unlimited, Amphetamine Reptile, Verdura, Tyyfus, Karkia Mistika, Load  Records, No Quarters… Any good record inspires.
What is the goal and purpose of your label?

Probably it would be to release music I/we are doing. Maybe some others on the side as well. There´s no actual goal, just to release some music and hope someone buys it that more stuff will come out. Right now it don´t look too good.
How do you find new artists?

I don´t wanna find them, my wallet can´t take it! For some reason mostly punk bands send me their demos and myspace addresses.
Why vinyl?

It´s just a great product. Although I´ve released some CDr´s also…
How important is packaging to you?

Of course it´s important, but for example Kusisessions covers will always be the same. Sort of in Peel Sessions spirit. Usually bands I´ve released tend to do their own covers.
What are your future plans?

Some jazz coming up whenever the budget allows it. And there´s some Susi-unto & Can Can Heads stuff lined up as well.
Do you collect vinyl?

I don´t actually collect it, but they seem to gather around my house.
How big is your collection?

A few thousand I would guess.
What are some of your go to records over the years?

Tom Waits´ Rain Dogs and let´s put here also The Dwarves´ Blood, Guts & Pussy. I think  this may vary in two hours.

Can Can Heads Kusisessions Vol.2 7”
buy it here: http://www.kissankusi.com/
Can Can Heads are a group from Finland that have been around for just shy of 20 years. Their discography is so lengthy it needs an interpreter. The three tracks they lay down on this 7” are metallic and abrasive noise jazz. The guitars and sax screech while the thin sounding drums blast away. Vocals seem like an after thought but they turn up now and then. “Salmonella River” is the stand out and plays like a surf song that was ripped to shreds and blasted to pieces by a thrashy punk band. The whole endeavor is very lo-fi noise, clashing punk with the jazz avant garde all mixing together to form an enjoyable little 7”.
